Suntory Toki Black is a blended Japanese whisky from the House of Suntory, drawing on the craft of its Yamazaki, Hakushu and Chita distilleries. The name Toki means time, a nod to Suntory's long tradition of blending, and this Black expression is a darker, richer reimagining of the original Toki.
What sets it apart is the inclusion of Hakushu peated and grain whiskies, which add a gentle, lingering smokiness that the standard Toki does not carry, along with a greater emphasis on malt richness.
The nose opens with apple and honeysuckle and a hint of baked apple. The palate is rounded and sweet with butterscotch, clove, cinnamon and soft herbal notes, while the finish closes on white pepper and ginger with that signature whisper of smoke. It is a natural in a highball and equally rewarding over ice.
