Stargazer is the small Tasmanian label of winemaker Samantha Connew, who spent a decade as senior winemaker at Wirra Wirra in McLaren Vale before moving south to focus on cool-climate wines. Her work centres on Tasmania's Coal River Valley, a dry, windswept region north-east of Hobart.
The Pinot Noir draws on vineyard sites in the Coal River Valley, including older vines alongside newer clonal plantings. Connew uses a portion of whole bunch fermentation and French oak to build texture and complexity while keeping the focus on site. The style is pure and finely structured, with red and dark cherry fruit, gentle spice, floral lift and a savoury, fresh finish.
A natural partner for roast duck, pork loin, wild mushrooms or grilled salmon.
Vintages may vary. Email us at hello@barrelandbatch.com.au if you would like confirmation.
