Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey was founded in 2001 by Pierre-Yves Colin (son of Marc Colin) and Caroline Morey (daughter of Jean-Marc Morey), and has become one of Burgundy's reference points for white wine. The estate bottles small parcels across the Côte de Beaune, with each cuvée handled identically so the character of the lieu-dit can come through.
Les Champlots is one of the higher-altitude Saint-Aubin Premier Crus, sitting at around 340 metres on the slopes that face Chassagne. The cool air and afternoon sun exposure deliver ripe Chardonnay with naturally elevated acidity, giving the wines real freshness and tension.
The 2023 has a lively bouquet of crushed limestone, fresh apple and a touch of chamomile, with lime tones leading into a stylish, finely tensioned palate. Whole-cluster pressing, native-yeast fermentation and seasoning in 350-litre barrels with a modest proportion of new oak give it the seamless, mineral-driven Colin-Morey signature. A serious Saint-Aubin built for the mid-term cellar.
