Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey was founded in 2001 by Pierre-Yves Colin (son of Marc Colin) and his wife Caroline Morey. From cellars in Chassagne-Montrachet the estate now works around 13 hectares of small parcels across Saint-Aubin, Chassagne, Puligny-Montrachet, Meursault and Santenay, all handled to a single, exacting house style.
La Chatenière is one of the cooler, higher-altitude Saint-Aubin Premier Crus, sitting on stony, calcareous slopes that yield Chardonnay with naturally high acidity and a distinctly mineral profile. Saint-Aubin sits just behind Chassagne and Puligny, and Pierre-Yves's parcels in the village have done much to push it onto the fine-Burgundy radar.
The 2023 La Chatenière is taut, lifted and chiselled, with white peach, lemon zest, crushed limestone and a faint reductive hint typical of the house style. Whole-cluster pressing at high pressure, native-yeast fermentation in 350-litre barrels and patient lees ageing build the texture without compromising the line of acidity.
