Pierre-Vincent Girardin is a 13th-generation Burgundian vigneron who established his own label in 2017 after his father retained 4.5 hectares of prime vineyard holdings for him. Working with a philosophy of minimal intervention and organic farming practices, Pierre has quickly earned a reputation as one of Burgundy's most exciting young talents, crafting wines of remarkable purity and precision.
The Les Enseigneres vineyard is one of Puligny-Montrachet's most celebrated lieux-dits, situated just metres from the Grand Cru parcels of Bienvenues-Batard-Montrachet and Batard-Montrachet. Planted to 30-year-old Chardonnay vines on clay-limestone soils with south-east exposure, this site produces fruit of exceptional concentration and mineral depth. The grapes are hand-harvested, fermented with native yeasts as whole clusters, and aged in custom 456-litre Francois Freres barrels before a further six months in stainless steel. The wine is bottled unfined and unfiltered.
On the palate, this Puligny-Montrachet is silky and electric, offering pure, sapid fruit with notes of lemon pith, white flowers and citrus blossom. A buttery richness is balanced by great salinity and stony minerality, building to a long, precise finish. A wine of real finesse with excellent ageing potential.
