Les Vireuils is a village-level lieu-dit in Meursault notable for being one of the highest-altitude sites in the commune — at over 350 metres, above the Premier Cru belt. The elevation slows grape ripening, yielding wines with pronounced freshness and minerality. Pierre Girardin's vines here are over 40 years old, growing on clay-limestone soils.
Farmed organically and fermented with indigenous yeasts in Girardin's 456-litre barrels (33% new oak), aged 14 to 18 months, the wine is bottled unfined and unfiltered. A distinctive Meursault that trades the village's typical richness for taut acidity, mineral tension and a vertically structured, almost Puligny-like character.
