Mount Mary is a family-owned, single-vineyard estate in the heart of Victoria's Yarra Valley, established in 1971 by Doctor John and Marli Middleton. It was one of the first vineyards planted in the modern revival of the region. Today the estate is run by the Middleton family, with grandson Sam Middleton as winemaker since 2011, producing wines under three labels: Mount Mary Vineyard, Marli Russell and Réflexion. All wines are estate-grown and made on site.
Réflexion Pinot Noir is drawn from the estate's younger Pinot plantings and from any fruit that does not make the cut for the flagship Mount Mary Vineyard Pinot Noir. The result is a fragrant, bright Yarra Valley Pinot: red cherry, raspberry, rose petal and gentle spice over a fine-boned, silky palate.
The estate prioritises soil health and biodiversity, with composting and minimal-intervention viticulture, and more than half the property dedicated to native conservation and revegetation. All winemaking takes place on site, with hand-harvesting and bottling under one roof.
