Bicknell FC was established in 2011 by Dave Bicknell, who spent nearly 25 years as chief winemaker at Oakridge, and viticulturist Nicky Harris, with a focus on precise, aromatic wines from distinctive Yarra Valley sites. The Applecross Pinot Noir is drawn from the Lance Vineyard at St Andrews and blends 777 clone fruit with old Mount Mary massale selections.
The wine is fragrant and lifted, with raspberry, dried flowers and a light touch of spice. The palate is bright and energetic, with glossy red fruit, fine, lacy tannins and a clean finish carrying a subtle, Campari-like bitter edge. The warmer season brought a little more depth while keeping the label's light touch.
The 777 clone was fermented separately without whole bunches, while the massale selections were fermented together with a portion of whole bunches. Ferments were pumped over and foot stomped, pressed after two weeks, then matured on lees for 11 months in a mix of barriques, hogsheads and puncheons before bottling in early 2026.
Vintages may vary. Email us at hello@barrelandbatch.com.au if you would like confirmation.
