Domaine Lucien Muzard is a respected family estate based in Santenay, at the southern end of Burgundy's Cote de Beaune. This Champs Claude cuvee comes from old vines, some dating back to the 1920s, planted on an east-facing slope that lends the wine both power and finesse.
The bouquet is lifted and aromatic, showing red cherry, pomegranate and raspberry alongside rose petal, gentle spice and a savoury, earthy undertone. On the palate it is generous and juicy, with beautifully ripe fruit supported by supple tannins and a long, elegant finish.
A characterful expression of village Santenay, it is well matched to duck, roast lamb and mushroom-based dishes.
