Pigface is a single-vineyard Chardonnay from Kerri Greens, the Mornington Peninsula label of Lucas and Alyce Blanck. The fruit is grown at their Silverwood vineyard in Balnarring, planted on a gentle, exposed north-facing slope in the eastern foothills of the peninsula.
This is a smooth, generous take on Chardonnay, wild fermented on solids and then rested in French oak. The result is a wine of caressing texture, showing ripe citrus and orchard fruit, gentle nutty and creamy nuances from the oak and a fresh line of acidity that keeps it lively and drinkable.
Balancing family winemaking heritage with a modern Australian sensibility, Pigface is an approachable yet characterful expression of Mornington Peninsula Chardonnay.
