Les Noyers Brets is a village-classified vineyard in Puligny-Montrachet and the only Puligny holding of Domaine Jean-Marc Pillot, a family estate otherwise rooted in neighbouring Chassagne-Montrachet. The domaine's parcel of just under half a hectare includes some notably old vines, which bring added concentration to the wine.
True to Puligny, the style is refined and linear, with lemon, white flowers, green apple and a hint of hazelnut over a fine, mineral spine. The palate is tense and precise, finishing long and clean, and it benefits from some time in bottle to show its full depth.
Jean-Marc Pillot is the fourth generation of his family to make wine in the Côte de Beaune and has run the domaine since 1991, now with his son Antonin, as the estate moves towards organic farming. Fruit is harvested by hand, fermented in barrel with indigenous yeasts and aged on fine lees, with a restrained proportion of new oak and a final period in tank before bottling.
Vintages may vary. Email us at hello@barrelandbatch.com.au if you would like confirmation.
