Domaine Henri Germain is a small, family-run estate based in the village of Meursault, founded in 1973 and now in the hands of Jean-Francois Germain and his daughter Lucie. Long regarded as one of the quiet treasures of the Cote de Beaune, the domaine has built its reputation on pure, classically balanced white Burgundy made to age, farmed organically and vinified in a thoroughly traditional manner.
This village Meursault is pure Chardonnay, with the wines typically resting two winters in barrel on their lees. The result is a white of concentration and poise, showing ripe orchard and stone fruit, a gentle hazelnut and lees-derived richness, and a firm mineral line that lends incisive freshness and length. It rewards a little patience in the cellar yet remains beautifully balanced.
Serve at cool cellar temperature alongside roast chicken, creamy fish and seafood dishes, scallops, or rich poultry in cream sauces. A wedge of Comte or other nutty hard cheese also makes a fine match.
Vintages may vary. Email us at hello@barrelandbatch.com.au if you would like confirmation.
