Founded in 1950 and guided for decades by Stéphane Moreau, Domaine Moreau-Naudet is now run by his widow Virginie, who continues his exacting methods. The vines are farmed with organic treatments only, worked by hand and harvested manually, with low yields and a slightly later pick than neighbouring growers to build concentration.
Montée de Tonnerre sits on the right bank of the Serein, directly adjoining the Grand Cru slope, and is widely regarded as one of the very top Premier Crus in Chablis. Matured patiently on its lees, the domaine's bottling shows crisp lemon, green apple and white flowers on a taut, saline frame, with a stony, mineral drive and a long, focused finish.
Enjoy with oysters, grilled prawns, sushi or pan-fried whiting, or cellar for several years to watch it gain texture and nuance.
