Jean-Luc Jamet is one of the iconic names of Cote-Rotie in the northern Rhone. Having worked alongside his brother at the family domaine, he established his own estate in 2013, continuing to craft wines of remarkable purity from the steep, terraced slopes above Ampuis. "Les Terrasses" is his signature cuvee, drawing on parcels that capture the dark, mineral character of these celebrated hillsides.
Made entirely from Syrah with a generous portion of whole bunches, this is a wine of depth and energy. Brambly dark berry fruit mingles with notes of crushed flowers, black pepper and a savoury, stony minerality. The palate is medium to full-bodied, juicy yet fresh, with a fine-grained structure and an earthy, iron-tinged depth that runs through the long finish.
Pair with roast lamb, grilled red meats, game or hearty braises. Approachable in its youth, it also has the structure to reward time in the cellar, where its complexity will continue to unfold.
