J.J. Prum is one of the most celebrated estates in Germany's Mosel valley, renowned for Rieslings of extraordinary delicacy and longevity. This Auslese comes from the famed Wehlener Sonnenuhr vineyard, whose steep blue Devonian slate slopes rise above the river and take their name from the old sundial set among the vines.
Made from selectively hand-picked ripe grapes, it is a lusciously sweet yet weightless Riesling. Aromas of white peach, apricot, honey and citrus are lifted by delicate floral and slaty mineral notes, while the palate balances concentrated sweetness against vibrant, racy acidity and a subtle spritz. The Goldkapsel, or gold capsule, marks a richer, more concentrated selection from the estate's finest fruit.
Enjoyable in its youth for its purity and vitality, it is also built for the cellar, capable of evolving gracefully over decades.
