Joh. Jos. Prüm is one of the Mosel's most legendary estates, celebrated for delicate, long-lived Rieslings of great finesse. This Spätlese comes from the Bernkasteler Badstube, a prized site on the region's steep, blue Devonian slate slopes.
As a Spätlese, it is made from riper, later-picked grapes, giving a gently sweet style balanced by the racy acidity that defines Prüm's wines. Expect aromas of white peach, apricot and citrus lifted by floral and slatey mineral notes, sometimes showing a fine youthful reduction that unwinds with air. The palate is light on its feet yet concentrated, with juicy stone fruit, a thread of honey and a long, mouth-watering finish.
Beautifully balanced between sweetness and acidity, it drinks wonderfully now with spicy Asian cuisine or fresh fruit, and will reward extended cellaring.
