Isolabella traces back to the 1870s, when the Milanese nobleman Egidio Isolabella founded his distillery and, being a committed traveller, went looking for the finest ingredients to build a liqueur worthy of his name. The sambuca remains the house signature.
It is made from a considered selection of botanicals: star anise and green anise at the core, joined by elderflower, coriander, nutmeg, orris root, ambrette and Bulgarian rose. The elderflower is the traditional signature of true sambuca and gives the liqueur its delicate top note.
The impact is immediate and fresh, with a powerful, clean anise flavour, sweet spice and a full, rounded body. Serve it the Italian way, chilled and neat as a digestivo, or con mosca with three coffee beans in the glass. It is also excellent poured over ice, added to espresso, or stirred into a sambuca-based sour.
