IDDA is a collaboration between Angelo Gaja and Alberto Graci, launched on Mount Etna in 2017. Graci's family is long established in the region's winemaking, and the partnership's vineyards sit on the southern slopes of the volcano, between roughly 600 and 800 metres above sea level in the villages of Belpasso and Biancavilla. The name means "she" in Sicilian dialect, the affectionate term locals use for Etna itself.
The IDDA Bianco is made entirely from Carricante, Etna's signature white grape. Fruit from Biancavilla on the south-west slope, where the pale soils are among the oldest on the mountain, is combined with fruit from Belpasso on the southern slope, where the darker, more porous soils are scattered with volcanic rock. Whole bunches are cold pressed and the wine is then aged in a mix of oak and stainless steel for six to nine months.
2025 was a balanced season on Etna, with a mild winter, a stable spring and a moderate summer, cooling gradually from mid September. Belpasso contributed structure and concentration while higher Biancavilla added freshness and mineral tension. Pale yellow with green tints, the wine shows citrus and floral aromas with Mediterranean herbs, anise and apricot, leading to a taut, vibrant palate and a fresh, lightly salty, mineral finish.
