Domaine Sylvain Cathiard is a family estate in Vosne-Romanée, run since 2011 by Sébastien Cathiard. While the domaine is celebrated for its red Burgundies, its expansion into the Hautes-Côtes de Nuits has also brought a white wine into the range, made from Burgundy's traditional second white grape, Aligoté.
The fruit comes almost entirely from old vines around Villers-la-Faye in the Hautes-Côtes, many planted in the 1940s. It is raised in tank rather than barrel to keep its purity, giving a crisp, structured white with citrus, green apple and white flower notes, a juicy texture and a fresh, mineral finish.
Enjoy it as an aperitif, with oysters and shellfish, goat's cheese or a classic gougère, or use it for a traditional Kir with a dash of crème de cassis.
Vintages may vary. Email us at hello@barrelandbatch.com.au if you would like confirmation.
