Pure Coast comes from the Great Ocean Road distillery in coastal Victoria, a producer better known for its gin and named for one of the most dramatic stretches of road in the country.
The vodka is a blend of Australian wheat and grape spirit, distilled with native botanicals and then charcoal filtered. Wheat gives the clean, neutral backbone, the grape component adds a little softness and weight through the middle, and the filtration takes the edges off.
Versatile is the point here. It has enough character to hold up in a martini and enough restraint to disappear into a cocktail, and it is just as good simply lengthened with soda and lime.
