Gentle Folk is the small family winery of Gareth and Rainbo Belton in Basket Range, Adelaide Hills. They farm organically with some biodynamic practices, hand harvest in the cool of the morning and make their wines without additions apart from a splash of sulphur at bottling.
This single site Pinot Noir comes from the Piccadilly Valley, the cool, high and comparatively wet pocket of the Adelaide Hills just below Mount Lofty, where vineyards sit above 500 metres and annual rainfall can exceed 1,000 millimetres. Soils here are typically light loamy clay over sandstone, threaded with quartz.
Gentle Folk's Piccadilly Pinot has traditionally been made with a mix of whole cluster and destemmed fruit and matured in French oak with only a modest portion of new barrels. Expect a tightly wound, bright style with fresh cherry and red currant fruit, lively acidity and a savoury edge that opens with air.
Vintages may vary. Email us at hello@barrelandbatch.com.au if you would like confirmation.
