Francesco Rinaldi e Figli is one of Barolo's long-standing traditional houses, founded in the 19th century by Giovanni Rinaldi on the Cannubi hill and named for his son Francesco, who took over in 1922. Today sisters Paola and Piera Rinaldi run the estate, farming around 11 hectares across Barolo, Castiglione Falletto and La Morra and ageing their wines in Slavonian oak in cellars dug into the hillside.
This Langhe Nebbiolo is sourced from younger vines on the family's Cannubi holdings. It is made with the same care as the estate's Barolo, spending a lengthy period on skins in vitrified cement before being refined in medium-sized Slavonian oak casks.
The result is a perfumed, classically styled Nebbiolo with red cherry and dried strawberry fruit, rose petal and gentle notes of tar and spice. Medium bodied with fine, savoury tannins and fresh acidity, it offers a genuine taste of Barolo's traditional style in a more approachable form.
Serve with tajarin and ragù, mushroom risotto, roast chicken or cured meats.
Vintages may vary. Email us at hello@barrelandbatch.com.au if you would like confirmation.
