Domaine Rolet's Arbois Tradition Rouge is a classic Jura red blend, led by Pinot Noir with Trousseau and a small amount of Poulsard. The grapes come from vineyards in Arbois and neighbouring Montigny-lès-Arsures, grown at 280 to 380 metres on red marl and gravel soils.
The fruit is destemmed and fermented with indigenous yeasts, then aged for around a year in older oak foudres, which round out the wine without adding obvious oak flavour. The style is light to medium bodied and fresh, combining the red-fruited finesse of Pinot Noir with the spice and structure of the Jura's native red varieties.
Domaine Rolet was founded in Arbois in 1942 by Désiré Rolet and has grown into one of the Jura's larger family-run estates, with around 65 hectares of vines spread across Arbois, Côtes du Jura, L'Etoile and Château-Chalon. Since 2018 the domaine has been in new hands, with farming moving towards organic practices, no herbicides or pesticides, and every bunch picked by hand.
