Domaine Robert Chevillon is one of the most respected estates in Nuits-Saint-Georges, worked today by brothers Denis and Bertrand Chevillon, the fifth generation at the property. The domaine farms around 13 hectares of vines, including eight premier crus, and is widely regarded as a yardstick for the appellation.
The Nuits-Saint-Georges Vieilles Vignes 2020 is made from Pinot Noir on clay-limestone soils from a 3.3-hectare parcel of old vines averaging around 50 years of age. It is a fleshy, perfumed village wine of unusual depth for the level, showing the open-knit fruit, saline finish and fine-grained structuring tannins that characterise the Chevillon style.
The vineyards are worked sustainably and hand-harvested. The wine is aged in French oak with around 20% new wood, allowing the terroir and old-vine intensity to come through with great clarity.
