Domaine Robert Chevillon is one of the most respected estates in Nuits-Saint-Georges, now run by brothers Denis and Bertrand Chevillon, the fifth generation. The domaine farms around 13 hectares including eight premier crus, and the wines have been called the yardstick for the appellation.
Les Chaignots is a premier cru climat in Nuits-Saint-Georges and one of Chevillon's signature bottlings. The 2012 is made from Pinot Noir and shows a deep ruby colour with aromas of red fruit and spice, a silky texture and remarkable length, reflecting the cooler, classically structured character of the 2012 vintage in Burgundy.
The vineyards are hand-harvested and vinified traditionally, with ageing in French oak including a modest proportion of new wood (generally around 30% for premier cru wines). The result is a refined, age-worthy Pinot Noir showcasing the aromatic complexity and depth of Chaignots.
