Les Genevrières sits in the middle of the great run of Meursault premier crus, between the stony austerity of Perrières and the plusher ground of Charmes, and it is generally held to be the most perfumed of the three. Growers describe it as the cru that combines Meursault's richness with genuine lift, and that balance is what makes it such a rewarding site in the hands of a village-based domaine.
The nose is floral and expressive, with acacia, honeysuckle and white peach over a core of lemon and toasted hazelnut. The palate is silky and layered, broad across the middle without losing definition, and the finish is long, faintly honeyed and carried by a fine seam of minerality.
The Bouzereau family has grown vines at Meursault for nine generations, and Philippe has managed the 18 hectare domaine with his brother Charles since 2006. Their holdings form a mosaic of small parcels running from Aloxe-Corton in the north down to Chassagne-Montrachet in the south, worked with minimal intervention, hand harvesting and native yeast fermentation.
