Domaine Moreau-Naudet was founded in 1950 on the marriage of Marie Naudet and René Moreau, and rose to prominence under Stéphane Moreau, who took the reins in 1991. Since his passing in 2016 his widow Virginie has carried the estate forward with the same philosophy: organic treatments only, careful work in the vines by hand, manual harvesting, low yields and a slightly later pick than many neighbours.
Beauregard is a left bank Premier Cru lying to the south-west of the town of Chablis, where shallow clay and limestone soils give a cool, tightly wound style of Chardonnay. Moreau-Naudet's version is fermented with natural yeasts and given a patient rest on fine lees without new oak, producing a wine of lemon, green apple and white flowers, framed by a saline, chalky backbone and fresh, persistent acidity.
Serve lightly chilled alongside freshly shucked oysters, grilled white fish or a goat's cheese salad, or give it a few years in the cellar to build further depth and texture.
Vintages may vary. Email us at hello@barrelandbatch.com.au if you would like confirmation.
