Domaine Louis Michel & Fils is one of the historic families of Chablis, with vines worked by the Michel name since the mid-nineteenth century. The estate is celebrated for its uncompromising, all-stainless-steel approach to vinification: no oak ever touches the wines, allowing the Kimmeridgian limestone of Chablis to speak in its purest form.
Séchet is a Premier Cru on the left bank of the Serein, sitting just below the Vaillons climats. Steep, south-facing slopes and very thin topsoil over fossil-rich limestone produce wines of marked minerality and tension, often considered among the most chiselled of the Premier Crus.
The 2023 opens with grapefruit, white-fleshed fruit and crushed stone aromatics, leading into a pure, dense palate driven by white flowers, lemon and a chalky soil signature. The acidity is bright and well-coated, with a long, quietly powerful finish that marks Séchet out as a textbook expression of left-bank Premier Cru Chablis.
