Domaine Landron-Chartier is a family estate of 25–30 hectares in the Coteaux de la Loire appellation around Ancenis, north-east of Nantes. Run by Bernard Landron with his son Benoît, the domaine has been certified organic since 2013 and works with classic Muscadet sub-zone terroirs of mica schist and orthogneiss.
100% Melon de Bourgogne (the grape behind all Muscadet) from selected parcels of 40- to 80-year-old vines on schist soils at Bas Ponceau/Ligné and Oudon. Expect a Muscadet of genuine depth — citrus, green apple and stone fruit lifted by salty, smoky minerality from the ancient schist, with a textural palate and a long, chalky finish.
Yields are kept low at around 35 hl/ha. Hand-harvested, fermented with native yeasts and aged six to eight months on fine lees before a light filtration, with minimal sulphur additions.
Vintages may vary. Email us at hello@barrelandbatch.com.au if you would like confirmation.
