Domaine Guffens-Heynen is a cult name in the Mâconnais, established by Jean-Marie Guffens, who has spent decades proving the region can produce Chardonnay to rival the Côte de Beaune. Tri de Chavigne is one of the domaine's prized cuvées, a tiny-production wine made from the ripest fruit selected through successive passes in the Chavigne vineyard at Pierreclos.
Naturally fermented in Burgundian barrels and aged at length on lees without filtration, it is rich yet chiselled. Expect aromas of white peach, pear and confit citrus, with white flowers, beeswax, toasted almond and honey. The palate is concentrated and satiny, framed by a bright spine of acidity, chalky texture and a long, searingly mineral finish.
A serious, age-worthy white Burgundy, it pairs beautifully with roast chicken, richer seafood, creamy pasta and soft cheeses.
