Domaine Ghislaine Barthod is one of the most respected estates in Chambolle-Musigny, celebrated above all for its refined, ageworthy Pinot Noir. The Bourgogne Blanc "Les Graviers" is something of a rarity, the estate's only white wine, made from a small parcel of Chardonnay planted in Chambolle as Ghislaine and her son Clement broadened the domaine's horizons.
This is a Chardonnay of purity and quiet elegance. A resinous bouquet carries hints of dried honey and orchard fruit, while the medium-bodied palate shows notes of apricot and stone fruit, sleek and pure with very little oak influence. Raised in a mix of seasoned oak and terracotta, it has a clinging, satisfying texture that lingers on the close.
Serve lightly chilled with roast chicken, grilled fish, soft cheeses or lighter creamy dishes. A precise and characterful white from a name better known for its reds.
