Les Vercots is a Premier Cru vineyard in Aloxe-Corton on the Côte de Beaune, and Domaine Follin-Arbelet's 1.1-hectare parcel is planted with vines dating back to 1947. Situated at the head of the valley approaching Pernand-Vergelesses, the deeper, colder clay-and-limestone soils here contribute notable structure and a cool mineral edge to the wine.
Run by Franck Follin and his son Simon from deep stone cellars in the village of Aloxe-Corton, the wine is fermented slowly in open-top wooden vats with indigenous yeasts and bottled without fining or filtration. This is a bold, deeply concentrated Pinot Noir with cassis-driven black fruit, firm tannins and excellent ageing potential of 10 to 15 years from release.
