Domaine Corcia is a small family estate in Mercurey, in Burgundy's Côte Chalonnaise. Formerly known as Domaine de la Vieille Fontaine, it was taken over by the Corcia family in 2021, with Raphaël Corcia running both the vineyards and the cellar. He farms the domaine's four or so hectares along organic and biodynamic lines, using cover crops, hand canopy work and organic composts only.
Les Cortechats is a single parcel of just over one hectare planted in 1959, so this Bourgogne Pinot Noir comes from genuinely old vines. Some whole bunches are kept during fermentation and macerations are long, giving a red with more depth than its regional appellation suggests. Expect plum, red berries and a lift of orange zest, with spice and floral notes of peony on a medium to full-bodied palate held together by supple, ripe tannins.
A versatile Pinot Noir for the table, it suits roast chicken, duck breast, mushroom dishes or a simple charcuterie board.
