Clos des Epeneaux is the crown jewel of Domaine Comte Armand — a 5.23-hectare walled monopole Premier Cru in Pommard, owned by the family since 1828. Spanning the boundary between Grands Epenots and Petits Epenots, it is widely regarded by Burgundy aficionados as performing at Grand Cru level despite its official Premier Cru classification.
Farmed entirely biodynamically under winemaker Paul Zinetti, the fruit is destemmed, fermented with ambient yeasts, given an extended maceration, and aged 18 to 24 months in oak demi-muids. This is a Pommard of extraordinary depth and concentration — powerful, structured and built for decades of cellaring, with layers of dark fruit, earth and mineral complexity that unfold over time.
