From Domaine Chanson, a historic Burgundy estate based in the medieval Bastion of Beaune, founded in 1750 and one of the oldest houses in the region. The estate cultivates around 43 hectares of Premier and Grand Cru sites across the Côte de Beaune.
A Premier Cru Beaune from Les Marconnets, located in the northern part of the Beaune Premier Cru appellation; the climat's name is said to derive from the Germanic Marcomanni tribe. Chanson owns around 4 hectares, or roughly 40% of the vineyard. 100% Pinot Noir. Expect a deeply coloured wine with intense plum and dark fruit, structured by firm, well-defined tannins and balanced by the savoury, mineral character of the site.
Vinified in the Chanson 'infusion rather than construction' style, with 100% whole-cluster fermentation to enhance colour, structure and aromatic complexity. Hand-harvested grapes are quickly chilled on arrival in a proprietary tunnel before fermentation, with élevage in oak barrels in the Bastion's historic cellars.
