Domaine Denis Mortet is one of the great names of Gevrey-Chambertin. Founded by Denis Mortet in 1991 and now led by his son Arnaud, the estate built its reputation on Pinot Noir of lavish texture and remarkable concentration. Its Clos de Vougeot comes from the largest Grand Cru of the Côte de Nuits, a historic walled vineyard that produces some of the most sought-after red Burgundy.
The wine is intense and earthy, revealing flavours of fresh and sour cherry framed by a deep, savoury complexity. Powerful in its youth, it gains refinement and a silky texture with time, offering sumptuous fruit on the palate and the kind of layered concentration that reflects this celebrated terroir.
This is a Grand Cru built for the cellar, so reward it with patience and decant before serving at cool cellar temperature. Pair with roast game, venison, beef in red wine or a mature hard cheese.
