Le Plateau is Château Mont-Redon's flagship white Châteauneuf-du-Pape, a low-volume parcel selection from the deep galets-strewn vineyards on the high plateau north-west of the village. The blend is built around Grenache Blanc with a substantial portion of Clairette, and the wine sees an extended élevage in barrel before bottling.
The 2023 is pale gold in the glass and quietly luxurious. Aromas of ripe citrus, orange blossom, white flowers and crushed stone sit alongside subtle sweet spice and a gentle minty lift. The palate is full but precise, with candied citrus and stone fruit framed by chalky mineral tension; the oak is integrated cleanly and the saline finish drives long and clear.
A serious white for serious meals: lobster, scallops with cauliflower purée, roast poultry in cream sauce, or a powerful aged hard cheese.
