Caroline Morey is the eldest daughter of Jean-Marc Morey, one of the great names of Chassagne. After her father's retirement in 2014 she took on his finest parcels and launched her own domaine, sharing a winery in Chassagne-Montrachet with her husband Pierre-Yves Colin while keeping the two labels strictly separate. The wines have quickly built a reputation for clarity, mineral intensity and pure expression of terroir.
Les Grèves is one of the most highly regarded Premier Crus of Beaune, sitting on a long, gently sloping mid-slope of the village hillside. Its limestone-rich soils give Pinot Noir of remarkable elegance and lift, with bright dark-berry fruit framed by silky tannins. Caroline's parcel is drawn from older vines planted in the mid-1960s.
The 2023 is floral and fine-grained, with dark berry fruit, violets and gentle spice opening into a long, silky palate of vivid raspberry and crushed-stone minerality. Patient cellar handling and a measured oak regime preserve the wine's lift and persistence, with a structure that points to a decade or more of graceful development.
