Cantillon Vigneronne 750ml

Cantillon Vigneronne is a grape lambic from Brasserie Cantillon, the celebrated traditional lambic brewery founded in Anderlecht, Brussels in 1900. Cantillon makes only spontaneously fermented lambic, cooling its wort overnight in an open coolship so that wild yeasts from the Brussels air begin fermentation, before ageing the beer in old oak wine casks.

For Vigneronne, fresh whole white grapes, most often organic Muscat, are macerated in two to three-year-old lambic for several weeks before the beer is refermented in the bottle. The grape sugars leave it a touch rounder than the brewery's straight gueuze, and it is produced only in small yearly batches.

The result is dry and tart, with floral, white-wine and stone-fruit notes from the Muscat over oak, citrus and gentle wild-yeast character. Wine-like and refreshing, it sits somewhere between a fine white wine and a classic lambic.
