Cantillon Kreik Lambic 750ml

Cantillon Kriek is a traditional sour cherry lambic from Brasserie Cantillon, the family-run Brussels brewery that has been making lambic the old way since 1900. Every Cantillon beer is spontaneously fermented, with wort cooled overnight in an open coolship to capture wild yeasts before long ageing in old oak casks.

To make the Kriek, whole sour cherries, pits and all, are macerated in young lambic for several months. The lambic draws colour, flavour and aroma from the fruit, then referments naturally in the bottle. No sugar or syrup is added, so this is a kriek in its original, unsweetened form.

It pours a deep red and drinks dry and assertively tart, with pronounced sour-cherry fruit, a hint of almond and stone from the pits, and the oak and funk of aged lambic. The finish is clean, puckering and thirst-quenching.
