Budweiser Budvar Original is brewed in the historic city of České Budějovice in South Bohemia, known in German as Budweis, where beer has been brewed since the thirteenth century. The Budějovický Budvar brewery was founded in 1895 and remains owned by the Czech state, brewing its lager to a traditional recipe.
It is made with whole-cone Žatec (Saaz) hops, Moravian malt and soft water drawn from the brewery's own deep artesian wells, and is given a long maturation of 102 days. The result pours a clear golden colour with a dense white head. The aroma is fresh and lightly floral, and the palate balances a gentle malt sweetness with the delicate bitterness of Saaz hops, finishing clean and crisp.
Serve well chilled in a tall lager glass. It is an ideal partner for roast pork, sausages, schnitzel, grilled chicken and classic Czech dishes.
