Benjamin Leroux founded his Beaune house in 2007 after fifteen vintages as manager of Domaine du Comte Armand in Pommard. His range covers the Côte d'Or from Chassagne-Montrachet up to Gevrey-Chambertin, and he buys only grapes, never juice or finished wine.
His village Gevrey-Chambertin is a blend of lieux-dits, traditionally led by Les Seuvrées alongside sites such as La Justice, Billard and Le Fourneau. The make-up changes with the vintage, and in 2024 the blend also includes fruit from Charmes-Chambertin and the premier cru Champeaux.
Fermentation is with ambient yeasts and a maceration of around three weeks, and the wine is aged mostly in barrel with no more than 30% new oak, so the oak stays subtle. It shows the dark fruit, spice and firm structure of Gevrey, delivered with Leroux's characteristic finesse.
Vintages may vary. Email us at hello@barrelandbatch.com.au if you would like confirmation.
