Benjamin Leroux spent fifteen vintages at the helm of Domaine du Comte Armand in Pommard before establishing his own Beaune house in 2007. His estate vines are certified organic and farmed biodynamically, and the fruit he buys comes only as grapes from growers working sustainably, organically or biodynamically.
This Bourgogne Rouge is far more serious than its regional appellation suggests. Its backbone is Bourgogne-level fruit from Leroux's key sites: the excellent Maison Dieu in Pommard, Mon Poulain in Volnay and Les Belles Côtes in Meursault. In many vintages these are complemented by village wine from Monthélie and Saint-Romain, and whole bunches have been used on the homegrown components.
Fermented with ambient yeasts and aged mostly in barrel with a modest share of new oak, it is a bright, red-fruited Pinot Noir with genuine Côte de Beaune character, made for drinking young while offering a true taste of the house style.
