Bass Phillip is widely regarded as one of the finest producers of Pinot Noir in Australia, its reputation forged by Phillip Jones in the cool hills of South Gippsland and carried forward in partnership with Jean-Marie Fourrier of Domaine Fourrier in Gevrey-Chambertin. Their shared inspiration is the purity and gentle touch of the legendary Henri Jayer.
The Premium Pinot Noir is a step up from the Estate wine, drawn from the estate's best mature parcels and made to highlight charm, perfume and detail. It reveals an alluring bouquet of dark cherry, raspberry and violets, framed by gentle spice and a savoury, earthy undercurrent. The palate is graceful and beautifully poised, with silky tannins, vibrant acidity and a long, fragrant close that speaks of its cool-climate home.
Pair with roast duck, venison or earthy mushroom dishes. Serve at cool room temperature and decant to let its aromatics unfurl.
