The Clos de la Bousse d'Or is a walled monopole sitting just below the village of Volnay, and it is the vineyard that gave the domaine its name. Being enclosed and entirely in one pair of hands means the parcel can be farmed and picked exactly as the site demands, which is a large part of why these monopole wines have such a consistent identity.
Aromas of dark cherry, plum and violet are backed by earth, sweet spice and a savoury mineral note. The palate is firmer and a shade broader than the estate's Caillerets, with more obvious structure and finely grained tannins, finishing long, earthy and persistent. A few years in the cellar will do it good.
Domaine de la Pousse d'Or farms around 17 hectares centred on Volnay, where it holds three monopoles, with further parcels in Pommard, Corton, Puligny-Montrachet, Chambolle-Musigny, Morey-Saint-Denis and Santenay. Patrick Landanger acquired the property in 1997 and reshaped it over the following twenty-five years.
