The Estate Pinot Noir is Bass Phillip's core old-vine cuvée — the third tier in the line-up and a wine that has long defined fine Gippsland Pinot. Phillip Jones founded the domaine in 1979 and the vineyards have been biodynamic since 2002. The 2018 is the final release under the Jones era before the estate passed to French hands.
Translucent, strawberry-tinted red in the glass, the wine has a polished and complex aromatic profile — fresh red berries, dried roses, savoury spice and white pepper. The palate is vibrant and acid-driven, softening to silky red fruit, floral lift and a subtle mineral undertow. Aged 14 months in French oak (22% new), bottled unfined and unfiltered — expect a natural cloudiness when poured.
A benchmark Gippsland Pinot with years of graceful cellaring ahead.
