Scoperta, meaning discovery in Italian, is Zonzo Estate's small-batch range dedicated to exploring alternative Italian grape varieties, chosen both for their character and for their suitability to a warming climate. Crafted in tiny quantities by winemaker Caroline Mooney, each release is an invitation to try something a little different. This one turns to Ansonica, the Sicilian white grape also known as Inzolia, prized for its soft texture and gently nutty, aromatic personality.
Expect a welcoming nose of toasted almonds and honey alongside crunchy pear and rockmelon. The palate is soft and supple, weaving toffee apple, raspberry and white peach through a lovely underlying freshness that keeps it bright and easy to drink.
An approachable, food-friendly white that was made for exploring. Try it with classic fish and chips, grilled prawns or a summery salad, served well chilled.
