From Domaine Yves Cuilleron, a benchmark producer of the Northern Rhône based in Chavanay, just south of Condrieu. Yves Cuilleron took over the family estate in 1987, having been founded by his grandfather in 1920, and has since expanded the property across all of the appellations of the Northern Rhône, with the exception of Hermitage. He works in a traditional, parcel-by-parcel style with hand harvesting and native-yeast fermentations.
A 50/50 blend of Marsanne and Roussanne sourced from several parcels of pebble-rich alluvial soils on gentle, south-west-facing slopes in the commune of Saint-Péray. The cuvée's name is taken from a neighbourhood within the village. Expect a delicate, fresh-fruited bouquet of peach, mirabelle, citrus and lemon rind, with a strong flint note, leading into a balanced, mineral-tensioned palate that contrasts beautifully with the more flamboyant whites of the region.
Spontaneously fermented with native yeasts, with malolactic conversion completed in barrel and large cask under temperature control. Aged for around 9 months on lees in barrel and foudre, with no battonage or racking, before bottling.
