From Domaine Yves Cuilleron, a benchmark producer of the Northern Rhône based in Chavanay. Founded by his grandfather in 1920 and run by Yves since 1987, the estate has become one of the leading names in the appellations of Saint-Joseph, Condrieu and Côte-Rôtie.
100% Syrah from old, sélection massale vines planted on shallow granitic soils on south to south-east-facing hillside terraces. The cuvée's name 'Les Serines' is the historic local synonym for Syrah, used here as a reference to the variety's heritage in the region rather than a specific vineyard. Expect a serious, structured Saint-Joseph with lifted aromatics of cassis, dark fruit, violet and savoury spice, leading into a medium to full-bodied palate with ripe tannins, integrated acidity and excellent length.
Hand-harvested with each parcel vinified separately, partially destemmed, with a three-week maceration in open-top vats and indigenous yeasts. Aged for 18 months in oak barriques before blending and bottling.
