The Crécy Chardonnay is Yarra Yering's single-block expression of their 1969-planted vineyard, drawing on seven unique clone and rootstock plantings to build a Chardonnay of layered complexity. The 2024 blend — 35% old-vine clone, 35% Clone 548 and 30% Clone 95 — was hand-harvested, whole-bunch pressed and fermented unclarified in French oak (40% new) with full malolactic fermentation.
The cool 2024 season delivers a taut, mineral style. Fresh lime, grapefruit and cashew aromatics sit alongside light tonic-water and citrus zest on the nose, while the palate is supple and flinty with pithy lemon intensity, fine slinky texture and creamy mid-palate fleshed out by the malolactic treatment. Long, minerally and precise.
A benchmark single-site Yarra Chardonnay — ready to drink now but with the balance to age gracefully for the better part of a decade.
